Felice Carena

Felice Carena (Cumiana, 1879 - Venice, 1966). He trained at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, as a student of Grosso. In 1906 he moved to Rome and his production was influenced by Bocklin and Carrière. In 1912 he exhibited his symbolist works at the Venice Biennale. Between 1913 and 1915 he was attracted by the French painting of Cézanne and Matisse and by the taste for the art of the Austrian Secession. In 1922 he organized an art school in Rome attended by Pirandello and Capogrossi, participated in the Venice Biennale and in 1924 he was a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. In those years he met Ardengo Soffici and Libero Andreotti. In 1945 he settled in Venice.
