This exhibition is dedicated to Mario Sironi and the "Novecento Italiano" artistic group. The exhibition explores the idea of "modern classicism" championed by Margherita Sarfatti: a unique blend of industrial landscapes, spirituality, and the rediscovery of past traditions.
The title is not merely a tribute to Sironi, but describes a true cultural project. "Building" the Novecento meant creating a new art form, solidly grounded in Italian history yet forcefully focused on the present. The driving force behind this movement was Margherita Sarfatti, the woman who succeeded in uniting the diverse artists of the time under a single, grand vision.
